Regulation and host targets of viral immune evasion
Cytomegaloviruses (CMVs) are masters in subverting the innate and adaptive immune responses of their host. The aim of project TP11 is to unravel the virus-host interactome of murine CMV immune evasion proteins using mass spectrometry-based approaches and to identify new viral strategies dedicated to circumventing the host immune system. Additionally, we will investigate host countermeasures focusing on mechanisms by which the host can regulate the expression of viral immune evasins. Learning how CMVs escape the immune system at its glance will provide new insights into immune evasion strategies and may reveal concepts of how to improve immune surveillance also of malignant cells.
