TF-PAR2 signaling in viral infection
Activation of protease activated receptors (PARs) by coagulation proteases influences the innate immune responses in viral infection. We have uncovered the importance of the PAR2-β-arrestin axis as a regulator of inflammation-triggered heart failure after viral infection and implicated Tissue Factor (TF) signaling in acute and chronic immune signaling associated with viral RNA recognition. We propose to further delineate coagulation components involved in RNA and DNA sensing and evaluate translational approaches for pathway-selective biased blockade of PAR2-steered immune responses in viral infections and their chronic complications during regeneration and functional tissue repair.
